Dreamscapes
Last month I visited the Salton Sea again last time I was there i previously posted some images from my phone. This time I took all my gear, and was playing with new lenses and camera. I wanted to try some work with the HDR techniques, this has not worked out quite the way i wanted but some good shots none the less. I am still missing something but I was trying to create a view of another world, a window into "middle earth." Not necessarily middle earth as in Tolkien but a different place, world or time that is not quite real but almost could be.

Bold New World
An early morning sunrise taken with hipstamatic. What have we here this is very SciFi new world to me yet it is the world we live in. I love the light and dark contrast, and the overall green over tone.
i love how this shot takes me to a new world a new place to be. A new place to boldly go that Captain Kirk has never been.

Half Dome and El Capitan
Yosemite National Park is truly one of California's most beautiful wonderful places. This view of Half Dome and El Capitan was shot on the way in to the park. This view was truly breathtaking as I drove into the park. Just stunning at what the eons of the earths movements can create.

Bleeding Hearts
I shot these quite a while ago and i am surprised i have never posted them. I have a few others but these are my favorites. I was going through a rough patch with my art and life and decided to actually use my art to express it.
I went with the theory of using ordinary objects to create a passionate image of pain. Shot using ordinary strawberries knife and a white smooth ceramic surface coupled with a few other ticks up my sleave I believe I was very successful in these images. So please enjoy my bleeding hearts

Spanish Guitar
This is an older shot that I have never done any thing with. I have a whole bunch of shots of street musicians, mostly because I love music and i love hearing it out in the world.
Music and art are important parts of life and so tied with each other it is incredible. For me music is inspiring to create art.

California Beaches
This is a shot from La Jolla Shores last weekend. I believe this is an anchor point from one of the kelp beds brought up from the floor from the recent storms. The ocean is truly amazing to me and somehow the things that are a part of it created great pictures.
We were supposed to do an open ocean dive this day but the dive instructor thought that it was a poor day to dive and the trip was canceled but a walk on the beach produced this image.

I know it dose not seem to make a horrible lot of sense to every one out there as to why I use this. To me there is an energy in these photos much like the writing of Dr. Thompson and the overall feeling of a lost american dream the proliferates through his writings.

New Horrors a Revisit to Americana
A new vision of a horror story or nightmare. Welcome back to fear and loathing in the american west. Again i have been shooting loads lately and am excited to revisit some of my previous loves of abandoned buildings. I am now far from my previous subjects in the high desert, these were shot in Escondido, Ca at Daly Ranch a beautiful hick if you are interested, also these beauties show up near the end.
I love abandoned old buildings and feel they need som documentation. I hope to shot these Horrific findings again soon. I hope I will remember to bring some thing other than my phone.

Portraits
Using only available light this is an old shot of a good friend of mine. I recently reedited this shot for more drama, I wanted to create the feel of a lost writer from previous generations and think it worked out

Untitled
Another shot from my trip to ladder canyon in the SoCal desert. Again shot with a holga lens for cannon DSLR. I managed to get the framing in a way to when i cropped the original image it would more resemble those of a holga. I am having so much fun with this lens

Yosemite: Grove
Long hours editing this shot have got me to close to something of what I saw when closing the shutter. I shoot every thing in the cameras raw mode as flat as I can. I attempt to expose as close to perfect as I can in each shot but I dont like the idea of the camera making interpretations of what I want my image to look like.
There is little alteration to saturation in this shot with exception of increasing my cooler tones. I have used some gradient filters to draw the eye to where I wanted it to go as well as burning and dodging. I do not feel its quite perfect and I may reedit and post again. If anyone has thoughts or suggestions let me know.

Half Dome
Ok so i decided to post an image from my recent trip to Yosemite. I have been having a hard time with this but through encouragement from friends I decided that i could try to post my take on a place that has already been photographed by an amazing photographer. This shot is of Half Dome on the way out of the park it was fairly late in the evening so exposure time was relatively long. I believe it came out well.

Love and peace
Saturday afternoon went to the beach in Carlsbad and this pleasant fellow was out there attempting to bring his message to people. I figured I would help him he really is not wrong.
I hope this gentleman can help bring some love, peace, and compassion to your life

Balboa Park,
I truly love Balboa Park in San Diego, Ca the old building are beautiful and extremely photogenic. This shot taken with Hipstamatic is some how incredibly powerful to me. I have photographed the buildings in the park several times and this is my first attempt that i think was successful in capturing its beauty.
Some how the old feel of Hipstamatic shows the true beauty of the old places
