Portraits
Using only available light this is an old shot of a good friend of mine. I recently reedited this shot for more drama, I wanted to create the feel of a lost writer from previous generations and think it worked out

Yosemite: Grove
Long hours editing this shot have got me to close to something of what I saw when closing the shutter. I shoot every thing in the cameras raw mode as flat as I can. I attempt to expose as close to perfect as I can in each shot but I dont like the idea of the camera making interpretations of what I want my image to look like.
There is little alteration to saturation in this shot with exception of increasing my cooler tones. I have used some gradient filters to draw the eye to where I wanted it to go as well as burning and dodging. I do not feel its quite perfect and I may reedit and post again. If anyone has thoughts or suggestions let me know.

Half Dome
Ok so i decided to post an image from my recent trip to Yosemite. I have been having a hard time with this but through encouragement from friends I decided that i could try to post my take on a place that has already been photographed by an amazing photographer. This shot is of Half Dome on the way out of the park it was fairly late in the evening so exposure time was relatively long. I believe it came out well.

Tranquility
One of the things I love most in photography is people I love portraits figure studies. People can be very interesting. Also it leads to a more interesting image.
Imagine this shot without the couple. While its still a beautiful scene I don't think it is anywhere near as interesting.

Untitled
Another holga photo in Sonora Ca. I really like this shot and am having a great time turning a high end piece of equipment into a low end but these images are a lot of fun.

Impact
On a recent trip to Sonora, Ca i decided to use the Holga lens for my Cannon camera. I am wworking with this lens and it is my first venture into the world of cheep plastic lenses. Shooting with it leads to some interesting issues. First off i have to get used to not being able to focus and just estimate my distance. Exposure meter if useless and the pictures are generally fairly soft, but i think this one came out well and i am liking the lens if anything for fun and frees me up to compose a little more.

Ladder Canyon
Ladder Canyon in the southern California desert. This place was amazing, the beauty of the desert can be so inspiring and led to the creation of these images. These are just a few but more to follow.
This hike seriously reminded me of being a kid four wheel driving in the desert. For years I have tried to explain the beauty of the desert to those that feel its just an awful brown place with no life. But the ground itself exudes these amazing colors.
I am not saying that this is exactly the way things look but this is the closest I have come to my vision when it comes to photography.

Muted Christmas Dream
I came by this land scape walking through kit Carson park in Escondido, ca.
1 I hate landscaps
2 I love Salvador Dali
3 it's time to be creative with landscapes
So these are my thoughts on what I've created here and what went through my mind

Sea Scape: Abstract 1 and 2; Catalina Island California

| Sea Scape Abstract 1; Catalina Island California |
Abstract 1: While on a weekend camping trip to Catalina Island at the end of August i decided to try a new take on a sea scape. The Fist done with large f-stop and shutter open for 1/2 second, gave the blurring effect. The blue is near true to color but is upped in Light-room. The opacity comes from the use of polarizer.

Overall Trying a different take on ocean scape photography. I love the ocean and i love the sea shore but its time something new was attempted. I think these are somewhat successful and may follow up with other ocean locations.

Dali
A month or so ago we went to the opening of the spanish masters exhibit at the san diego county museum of arts. This was a fun event music cocktails and wonderful art. While i was there i decided to pay tribute to my favorite Spanish master Salvador Dali.
These shots were taken not so much in the style of Dali but in the spirit. Using the Dali lens and film in the hipstamatic iPhone app i created these strange and surreal images of an art opening.
I owe a lot to Salvador Dali in my inspiration and life. His art is one of the reasons i started using my talent to create art and not simple drawings.

Snails
Snails. I am very fond of snails, I think they are very interesting little creatures. These guys were all hanging out on the same tree one afternoon in August.

American: Fear of the American Dream
Was browsing through old pictures today and came upon these, My Americana series. These shots have gone a long way. The television and couch was even in a show in Europe. These have always been some of my favorites and hope to come back to this series one day and expand on it and move deeper into my fears of what people think is normal American wants and dreams.
I feel it is killing us our consumer culture our, our lethargy. Americans have become complacent as long as our TV's continue to get larger, our couches softer and our asses fatter, we are all victims of our own indulgences.

Another Scifi'ish pic today. Very interesting composition with the Hipstamatic. Almost looks like the ship from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
