Dreamscapes

Last month I visited the Salton Sea again last time I was there i previously posted some images from my phone.  This time I took all my gear, and was playing with new lenses and camera.  I wanted to try some work with the HDR techniques, this has not worked out quite the way i wanted but some good shots none the less.  I am still missing something but I was trying to create a view of another world, a window into "middle earth." Not necessarily middle earth as in Tolkien but a different place, world or time that is not quite real but almost could be.

Half Dome and El Capitan

Yosemite National Park is truly one of California's most beautiful wonderful places.  This view of Half Dome and El Capitan was shot on the way in to the park.  This view was truly breathtaking as I drove into the park.  Just stunning at what the eons of the earths movements can create.

Half Dome

Ok so i decided to post an image from my recent trip to Yosemite.  I have been having a hard time with this but through encouragement from friends I decided that i could try to post my take on a place that has already been photographed by an amazing photographer.  This shot is of Half Dome on the way out of the park it was fairly late in the evening so exposure time was relatively long.  I believe it came out well.

American: Fear of the American Dream

Was browsing through old pictures today and came upon these, My Americana series.  These shots have gone a long way.  The television and couch was even in a show in Europe.  These have always been some of my favorites and hope to come back to this series one day and expand on it and move deeper into my fears of what people think is normal American wants and dreams.

I feel it is killing us our consumer culture our, our lethargy.  Americans have become complacent as long as our TV's continue to get larger, our couches softer and our asses fatter, we are all victims of our own indulgences.

Mother and Daughter

Mother and daughter with interesting composition.  This was such a fun day and it was great to see people playing in such a care free fashion.  No i devices no internet connection or text messages.  Of course Obviously was not part of this equation but it was for arts sake.

A Welcome Cool Down on a Hot Day

Entrance to the Air Condition Lounge in south park San Diego.  I love the entrance you would almost miss it walking down the street. During the Taste of Adams avenue event we came by this place as our last stop on the tour.  Unfortunately we missed the food offerings but the bartender was still offering the drink specials.
Part of the interior of the air conditioned lounge the plain exterior opens to a swanky 70's or 80's lounge with sweet decor and swingin' time

False Jellies

I found the interesting while walking on Ventura Beach in late February.  To me these look like Jelly Fish something i have already fallen in love with photographing.  These were rocks in the sand that the receding water left delicate tentacles behind like the water dancing jellies.

These Succulents roadside near my home are out of control weird and were deserving of being photographed.  They seriously look like they are straight off the set of start trek

Take a Seat and Read

Just Read © Jerry H Slough
One of my favorite pass times.  Well minus the coffee,  this is at Barts Books in Ojai, Ca.  This book store is almost all outside, there are some books for sale outside the walls that are basically on the honor system.  I love bookstores, used books and reading.  This shout with its high contrast highlights and deep shadows to me encompasses the mystery of a bookstore.

Day 6

For day 6 which should have been posted yesterday more Jelly Fish. Sorry if any body is actually reading this but yesterday was a long day at work.

I enjoy the way these creatures appear to be dancing gracefully through a stage of one of the most volatile things on earth.

The ocean can reshape the earth in minuts yet the creatures playfully dance through their liquid stage. Next time you go to an aquarium spend some time with these creatures and watch them as they move.

Day 4: Me Again

I thought I would lay off the jelly fish for today. Try for another self portrait. These were my first experience using the remote camera app for my canon. What an awesome app. To be completely free of the camera is totally awesome. Now if my tripod was in working order and i had more lighting i probably would have done a little better on these any way i think they came out pretty good for limited equip and limited time to work on them,

These were submitted to a self portrait contest and i hope some thing comes of it still waiting for a response.

Day 2 more jellies

None of these are brand new yet, but any way this is another in my Jellyfish series. I love they way the look like dancers or faries in their aquatic domains. These simpilest of creatures.

Day one part 2

Ok in the interest of trying to make this more frequently I am going to start with a few that are a little bit older until i start getting in the habit of carrying my camera around again.

So to start this off i am going to post my series of jellies. I lve jellie fish and i hope some day to be able to actually dive near them and get live photos. This series was photographed at the Scripps and Monterey Bay aquariums in california. I plan to keep this series going so you readers you may see repeated eventually and i hope that you enjoy my interpretation of these amazing creatures.
