New Horrors a Revisit to Americana

A new vision of a horror story or nightmare.  Welcome back to fear and loathing in the american west.  Again i have been shooting loads lately and am excited to revisit some of my previous loves of abandoned buildings.  I am now far from my previous subjects in the high desert, these were shot in Escondido, Ca at Daly Ranch a beautiful hick if you are interested, also these beauties show up near the end.

I love abandoned old buildings and feel they need som documentation.  I hope to shot these Horrific findings again soon.  I hope I will remember to bring some thing other than my phone.

Balboa Park,

I truly love Balboa Park in San Diego, Ca the old building are beautiful and extremely photogenic.  This shot taken with Hipstamatic is some how incredibly powerful to me.  I have photographed the buildings in the park several times and this is my first attempt that i think was successful in capturing its beauty.

Some how the old feel of Hipstamatic shows the true beauty of the old places

Tranquility

One of the things I love most in photography is people I love portraits figure studies. People can be very interesting. Also it leads to a more interesting image.

Imagine this shot without the couple. While its still a beautiful scene I don't think it is anywhere near as interesting.

Thy Self and Father on the Cross

I shot this simply because it was too weird seeing my initials at the center of the cross.  Message from god? I dont know really I had had a few glasses of wine at this point.

Dali

A month or so ago we went to the opening of the spanish masters exhibit at the san diego county museum of arts.  This was a fun event music cocktails and wonderful art.  While i was there i decided to pay tribute to my favorite Spanish master Salvador Dali.

These shots were taken not so much in the style of Dali but in the spirit.  Using the Dali lens and film in the hipstamatic iPhone app i created these strange and surreal images of an art opening.

I owe a lot to Salvador Dali in my inspiration and life.  His art is one of the reasons i started using my talent to create art and not simple drawings.

Snails

Snails.  I am very fond of snails, I think they are very interesting little creatures.  These guys were all hanging out on the same tree one afternoon in August.

Live Circus

I know its late but I find myself awake and listening to music.  Mostly I cannot sleep tonight because I have got a ton of ideas running through my head and felt i should put them on paper or hard disk before i fall asleep and forget them.

However, while writing an email to my bosses and listening to some Tom Waits the song Live Circus a lyric fit perfectly with this image, and got me thinking about trying to shoot some more to go along with this song

So while I write this i find myself thinking what other inspiration might my iTunes have form me????  This you all for checking this out and expect new great things to come, ideas are pouring in. Also, i must thank you Mr. Waits for years of musical enjoyment and inspiration.

A Time Slip

copyright Jerry H Slough 2011
A slip in the time space continuum.  A pause in reality, a change in the matrix.  Reality has been altered or just a moment, or has it.  Is this simply the falsity of photography.

Mother and Daughter

Mother and daughter with interesting composition.  This was such a fun day and it was great to see people playing in such a care free fashion.  No i devices no internet connection or text messages.  Of course Obviously was not part of this equation but it was for arts sake.

Magic Mushrooms

Actually i believe they are shittakki however they look like the faeries have been near.  This was a happy accident shooting through a glass dome designed to create humidity for the mushrooms to grow.  I think what happened is the camera picked up the subtle glow from the moisture inside of the dome.  That combined with the "infrared" look created buy the hipstamtic settings created this visually stunning view of mushrooms.

Equinimity

The entrance to the meditation gardens in Ojai, Ca.  What a peaceful place you could truly spend hours siting in these gardens and meditating,  It is truly a place you can sit of peace.
